Aeschynanthus Rasta - 4" Pot

Textural, trailing and full of personality, the Aeschynanthus Rasta is known for its distinctive curled foliage and cascading growth habit. Also known as the Rasta Lipstick Plant, its tightly twisted, glossy green leaves create beautiful texture, while mature plants can produce vibrant tubular flowers that emerge from darker buds.

Grown in a 4-inch nursery pot, its compact size is perfect for shelves, plant stands and anywhere its trailing stems have room to grow. As it matures, Aeschynanthus Rasta looks especially beautiful displayed in a hanging planter.

Care Instructions

Light:
Aeschynanthus Rasta prefers bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light will encourage healthy growth and can help promote flowering. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the foliage.

Water:
Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid keeping the soil consistently soggy, as this plant is sensitive to overwatering.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. It will generally do well in average household conditions but appreciates additional humidity, especially during dry Ontario winters.

Temperature:
Keep in a warm location away from cold drafts, heating vents and sudden temperature changes. This tropical plant prefers consistently warm indoor temperatures.

Plant Parent Tip:
Want to encourage those signature lipstick-like blooms? Give your Rasta plenty of bright, indirect light and avoid keeping the soil too wet. Once the stems get longer, let them cascade naturally rather than constantly trimming them back.

Pet Safety:
Aeschynanthus is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a great option for pet-friendly homes.
